Just a thought
Isn't it amazing to feel certain things so deeply? Being an overthinking animal has its own pros and cons. But one thing is certain, you never run out of thoughts. And you often find yourself deeply engaged in a chain of thoughts not uttering a single word for hours.
Out of all the thoughts that cross my mind, my personal favourites are *what if* type thoughts. I mean it's amazing to imagine how things would be if you had taken or rather not taken one particular step.
There's no denial to the fact that it kills a lot of time that could otherwise be utilized productively. But what exactly do we mean when we say "productive"? Is it only when we are physically engaged in achieving a desired outcome that we claim ourselves productive? Is it important to reach somewhere in order to call a journey productive? Can't we sit with ourselves and be productive doing absolutely nothing? Can't we just live the journey to the fullest and yet be productive without reaching anywhere?
This constant pressure to keep moving and reach somewhere is disturbing. So much so that sometimes the whole purpose of starting the journey stands defeated. We tend to be so obsessed with the end results that we fail to appreciate the process and thereby ignoring the progress.
Despite knowing all this I myself am not free from this trap as even I feel under pressure to conclude this write up properly giving it an interesting end. Nevertheless it doesn't really matter how beautiful the destination is, what by and large occupies our memory has more to do with how the journey was.
