Distance

Long before things changed this way
There was a connect that meant to me
And It meant to you, that's what I believed
What is strange today, was never perceived
Who knew life will take this course
Those memories, the journey and our pictures
Everything would now cause remorse
Texting you randomly, sharing those links What came naturally to me earlier
Now feels almost a forgotten thing
All my firsts that began with you
Some of them actually also ended then
Be it binge eating or discussing lifestyle
Applying for new jobs or sharing dark sides
I know we got along real quick
And trust me it was really strange
for none of us were good at opening up
The guards that we had built-up around our hearts
The pain we had felt in our similar pasts
The books we read or the movies we watched
Similar if not same, they helped us walk far
It hurts to see how distant we have grown
Never knew this physical distance would change so much
Deep down I know I'm responsible for
A lot of pain you had to go through
Don't know if it helps you a bit
But I always wished the best for you
And would respect this space come what  may
Even if it means this distance grows.
