Moment
A never-ending conversation inside me
Where my mind says I should go to sleep.
But my heart is in a mood to recall
The good time spent in the previous fall.
All those brunches and the beers consumed
The trips between her home and our school.
The variety of reasons we made up to meet
Just for an hour in a park or on the street.
Eating was an excuse coz body wasn't hungry
It's the soul that craved for someone who could agree.
To what I felt but couldn't comprehend
As I could see the present but it had no perfect end.
The confusions that I had and the deadlines I needed to face
Timeline set by the elders made this life a race.
A race that none of us wanted
But we had no choice but to surrender.
Coz it's the pride of the family
and the happiness of our loved ones
Who refused to understand
age was just a number.
Amidst these complexities given to us
We managed to steal our moments of fun.
From the streets of Dwarka to the lanes of Lansdowne
Our feet and minds were forever on a run.
People always advise us to live in the moment
Never are we told it's just that that we have.
That we gotta try to grab the most
Of what we experience in this moment.
What You 'have' becomes what you 'had'
You blink your eyes and it's the next one.
Here's another interesting thing untold
Something that only such experiences unfold
While the next moment steals the joy we had
It leaves with us what we call the 'memories'
This song of the movie or that place visited
a pizza with a coke or little hearts with a silk
This is all it takes to bring them all out of the debris.
